Department of Agricultural Engineering Visit Our Blog

Department of Agricultural Engineering at Marathwada Institute of Technology (MIT) is among the newest department at MIT which started in year 2008 with a view to create technocrats that will take the challenge to solve the problem of food security for the mammoth population.

At present department is having advanced GIS LAB with state-of-the art technology to train and develop technocrats with latest technology of Geographic Information Sysytem and Remote Sensing.

The students are under training to apt with soft-computing techniques of AutoCad, simulation softwares - Cropwat, Instat and programming on MATLAB.

The department shares the accolade of having toppers in our branch for UPTU examination at state level.

The Department has well advanced research program for students to understand and learn the new technological progress in Agricultural Engineering.

We are currently working on following major areas :

  • Hydrological evaluation of soil conservation structures in watershed
  • GIS based approach to study agricultural watershed
  • Stochastic modelling of rainfall time series of Bulandshar region
  • Convective dehydration kinetics of vegetables.
  • Convective dehydration kinetics of waste product development
  • Quality and evolution of mixed fruit beverages
  • Development of fruit and vegetable bar (leather)
  • Nutrition quality of fruit and vegetable study as influenced by sun drying method and mechanical methods
  • Studies of fruit and vegetables drying by oven, microwave, tray drier, fluidized bed drier
  • Comparative performance evaluation of happy seeder machine
  • Performance evaluation of paddy weeder with ergonomic considerations
  • To study the extent of noise dust and vibration during tractor tillage operation under different field condition
  • Estimate the morphological parameter of agricultural watershed

The department has following laboratories:

  • GIS and Remote Sensing Laboratory
  • Surveying and Levelling Laboratory
  • Irrigation and Drainage Engineering Laboratory
